Anorakaphobia was a one-time competitor in the third series of Robot Wars. It was a very fast robot, one of the fastest in the wars at 20mph. It was a long, curved, black and yellow wedge made of aluminium with two fibreglass moulded pods, costing £3000 over 2 months, with a hammer as its weapon, and with two chainsaw chains that travelled alongside the weapon that were designed to entangle opponents and drag them up and over its body. The hammer also moved at an incredibly fast rate at four hits per second, and was designed to flip opponents over once they had been pulled further up over the body. The unique design earned Anorakaphobia a nomination for the Best Design Award, but it missed out to Razer.
Anorakaphobia also attempted to qualify for Series 4, but lost to Dantomkia 1.0 after a long and boring battle, which ultimately resulted in neither robot qualifying (despite the latter having a second, more interesting qualifier later). The series 4 Anorakaphobia was shaped like a WW1 tank with its weapon being its tracks that were chainsaw chains.
Robot History
In the first round of the Third Wars, newcomers Anorakaphobia were placed up against a returning team in Miss Ile. In the battle, Anorakaphobia drove up Miss Ile's scoop, pushing it onto the flame pit where its opponent lost an eye. Anorakaphobia started to use its extremely speedy hammer, before Miss Ile lost its other eye due to Sergeant Bash's flamethrower. Near the end of the battle, Anorakaphobia had a driver change mid-way through the bout due to the original driver vomiting in the control pod. Now under the controls of Miles, Anorakaphobia accidentally drove over to the arena spikes, before regaining control. It then eventually reversed Miss Ile into the pit.
In the second round, Anorakaphobia fought experience in The Big Cheese. Both robots had a slow start, with Anorakaphobia carefully avoiding The Big Cheese's lifting arm, so The Big Cheese could not get under it. Eventually Anorakaphobia's axe became trapped between The Big Cheese's lifting arm and wedge, and was put into the pit by The Big Cheese, eliminating it from the competition.
At the end of the Third Wars, Anorakaphobia was nominated for the Best Design Award, however, it missed out to the previous series' winner: Razer.
