Eruption with trophy
Combat Robot Hall of Famer

Dara handed us the trophy and we couldn’t have been happier! Out of 40 robots, a team of three Bluecoats that no one took seriously in the pits at first had won Robot Wars. - Dave Young

This robot is in the Combat Robot Hall of Fame! It's considered one of the best combat robots in the entire world!

Reason: Iron-Awe 5 was inducted in 2009.

Iron-Awe was a series of robots that participated in Series 4, 6-7 and 10 of Robot Wars. The team also entered Series 5 with Axe-Awe.

Iron-Awe 2.1 was the most successful of the team's machines in UK Robot Wars, reaching the Heat Final after flipping the seeded Bigger Brother out of the arena in its second round battle. It was then outclassed by Typhoon 2 in the Heat Final and immobilised after several hard blows from the future champion. However, it was later repaired in time to compete in a special Axe Attack battle against Hydra and Kat 3, which it won.

Its name was a pun on "Iron Ore", a mineral used to make Iron.

The team tried to enter two new versions of Iron-Awe, Iron-Awe 5 and Iron-Awe 7, into Series 8 of Robot Wars, but they were not chosen to compete although another version called Iron-Awe 6 competed in Series 10.

The original Iron-Awe that entered Series 4 was an aluminium box-wedge shaped robot made mostly from packaging metal. The main axe support and motor shell were made of steel, but with weight being a problem, Iron-Awe ended up much shorter than intended, and holes were drilled everywhere. It featured tracks, which were powered by Bosch motors, and were chosen in order to create more traction and a zero turning circle. Iron-Awe's weapon was a 3kg felling axe on a wooden handle, powered by CO2 at 175PSI. It also had an additional cylinder behind the axe head. The power behind the axe led to it being the first robot to self-right by using an axe.

However, the robot moved fairly sluggishly due to its poor choice of batteries. After competing in Series 5 with Axe-Awe, the team returned to Series 6 with Iron-Awe 2. It retained the weapon combination of Axe-Awe, albeit with drastic improvements. Iron-Awe was built on a 40mm square aluminium box section frame, originally part of a workshop table and was sourced from a local scrap yard. Kart wheels were chosen to carry the robot, because of the size:weight ratio. The flipper could lift a ton, the robot was manoeuvrable and had self-righting capabilities but was easily flippable.

The Series 7 entry Iron-Awe 2.1 had improved manoeuvrability and a lower ground clearance, as the team had abandoned the kart wheels of Iron-Awe 2 in favour of small aluminium wheels. Both weapons now operated at approximately one-tenth of a second, and also featured rear spikes to prevent Iron-Awe from getting stranded on its flat rear panel, as it had been in the Series 6 qualifiers.

Qualification[]

Despite having control problems in its Series 4 qualifier, Iron-Awe managed to defeat Bolt from the Blue, and qualified for the series. Iron-Awe 2 had lost its qualifier for Series 6 after Dantomkia managed to stand Iron-Awe 2.0 up on its back with its axe hanging over the perimeter barrier of the arena, leaving it unable to self right. Despite losing, the team was given a discretionary place to qualify, unlike fellow losing competitors Maximus and Destruct-A-Bubble.

In its Series 7 qualifier, Iron-Awe 2.1 fought three robots, including Mute. Of the four, only Iron-Awe 2.1 and Mute qualified for the series.

Robot History[]

Iron-awe1

UK Robot Wars Series 4[]

Main Competition[]

Iron-Awe had a very slow and ponderous first fight in the Fourth Wars against the 23rd seeds Mortis and fellow newcomers Mazakari, being pushed around by Mortis a few times. In actual fact, a lot of the action involving Iron-Awe was edited out, instead focusing on Mortis pushing Mazakari around the arena. Iron-Awe appeared to be immobilised near the end of the battle and was picked up and nearly pitted by Sir Killalot. In the end, the judges ruled that Mazakari had been eliminated, which is rather controversial as Mazakari's wheels were still spinning, meaning it was still alive whereas Iron-Awe was completely dead.

In the second round Iron-Awe was drawn against the 7th seeds Steg 2. Iron-Awe started slowly again and was flipped numerous times by Steg 2. Although it righted each time, the House Robots eventually closed in and Sir Killalot cut its axe off. The judges ruled Iron-Awe out and the seventh seeds through.

Celebrity Special[]

Iron-Awe returned to fight in the Celebrity Special, where it was driven by actress Natalie Cassidy. In Round 1 against Pussycat, recent runners-up for the main competition, Iron-Awe moved very slowly at the start, firing its axe, but failing to hit Pussycat. After Pussycat rammed it and drove up its wedge, Iron-Awe got a few axe blows in, but failed to do any damage, apart from knocking off Pussycat's decorations. After Pussycat slammed into Iron-Awe, breaking Natalie's vanity plate, Iron-Awe appeared to stop moving. Thought it regained mobility after an attack from Dead Metal, it did not matter; the rest of the house robots joined in, with Matilda flipping it over. Iron-Awe tried to self-right, but just ended up on the flame pit, where its decorations burned off while Sir Killalot snapped off its axe again. Finally, Sir Killalot picked up Iron-Awe and finished it off by lowering it into the pit. Natalie Cassidy then later joined her Eastenders co-star Adam Woodyatt with the Cold Fusion Team and Pussycat, coming out as the eventual winners.

Iron awe

UK Robot Wars Series 6[]

Team Iron-Awe entered Series 6 with Iron-Awe 2 and came up against the 5th seeds Chaos 2, newcomers Destructosaur and veterans Mighty Mouse in the first round. Iron-Awe 2 started fairly well, axing a hole in Destructosaur's armour just as Chaos 2 flipped Destructosaur. However it then moved too close to the arena wall, and began spinning in delight. This allowed Chaos 2 to get underneath Iron-Awe before they could get away, push it against the arena wall, and toss it out of the arena, eliminating it from the competition.

Robot Wars: Extreme 2[]

Challenge Belt[]

Iron-Awe 2 took part in the Challenge Belt competition in Extreme Series 2. In the first round against Barber-Ous 2, Vader, both recent heat-finalists, and reigning fourth place Terrorhurtz, it started by attempting to flip over Terrorhurtz, but Terrorhurtz toppled back onto its wheels. Iron-Awe 2 was then attacked by Barber-Ous 2, the impact turning it over, but it was able to self-right. After being attacked by Vader, Iron-Awe 2 was able to axe through the shell of Barber-Ous 2, and then flipped it over while the axe was still dug in, which turned Iron-Awe 2 itself upside-down. Luckily for the team, Vader was counted out and Barber-Ous 2 was pitted by Terrorhurtz, so Iron-Awe 2 survived.

In the second round against previous semi-finalist Dantomkia, Iron-Awe 2 spent the early stages trying to avoid its opponent, but it wasn't long before Dantomkia got underneath Iron-Awe 2, pushed it towards the arena entry gate, and threw it out of the arena.

Iron Awe 2

UK Robot Wars Series 7[]

Main Competition[]

The team returned for Series 7 with Iron-Awe 2.1, and started against three newcomers to the UK wars DisConstructor, Xenomorph and Hammerhead 2 in the first round. It opened up by ramming straight into Refbot, before using its flipper to toss Hammerhead 2 and Xenomorph around. After Disconstructor drove into the pit, Iron-Awe 2.1 used its axe and flipper to attack its remaining opponents, doing enough damage to progress to the next round on a judges' decision.

In the second round, it met the 4th seeds Bigger Brother, which was by far the favourite. Bigger Brother started stronger, flipping Iron-Awe over, then pushed it towards the arena side wall and flipped it over, this time onto its wheels. Iron-Awe 2.1 spun around, got underneath Bigger Brother, and launched it over the arena wall. This was one of the biggest shocks of the Seventh Wars.

Iron-Awe 2.1 met the incredibly destructive Typhoon 2 in the Heat Final. Iron-Awe faced immediate difficulty, as a slippery substance covered the arena floor for Sir Killalot's benefit, and Iron-Awe could not gain traction. As a result, it failed to catch Typhoon 2, which was constantly increasing its spinning speed. Upon contact, Typhoon 2 buckled Iron-Awe's flipper after a few blows. Iron-Awe 2.1 tried to hit Typhoon 2 with the axe, but failed. Typhoon 2 then sent Iron-Awe 2.1 flying towards Shunt's CPZ, where it was counted out. Sir Killalot picked it up and carried it to the drop zone, where a gas cooker was dropped on it.

Axe Attack[]

The team put the robot back together to take part in the Axe Attack battle against Hydra and Kat 3. Iron-Awe 2.1 was attacked repeatedly early on by the axe of Hydra and was pushed into the arena wall. Meanwhile, Kat 3 had become immobilised and was counted out. Iron-Awe 2.1 was pushed into the CPZ by Shunt, but escaped. From then on, both robots began to attack the house robots. Hydra flipped over Shunt and Iron-Awe 2.1 attempted to flip over Cassius Chrome, but was unsuccessful. Refbot then activated the pit release button, and Hydra drove onto the pit just as it began to descend and was eliminated, leaving Iron-Awe 2.1 as the winner.

White Knight as Earthquake

While it was initially meant to have a front-hinged flipper, Iron-Awe 3 was then hastily revised to have a rear-hinged flipper after the front-hinged flipper was found to be not powerful enough. Built in 2004, it featured rolled edges on the flipper. Team Iron-Awe 3 did well with this version finishing runner-up in the Roaming Robots 2006 Winter Tour to Behemoth and also winning the Robot Rumble 2007. It was sold to Team Wind-Power in 2007, under Team Wind-Power, it was renamed L and then White Knight. In April 2016, White Knight was sold again, this time to Team Shock who have renamed it Earthquake and competed with it at live Robot Wars and Robots Live! events, throwing Behemoth out of the arena in one battle.

2006 UK Championships[]

Main Competition[]

As Iron-Awe 3, the robot had been signed up to its first ever full competition outside of Robot Wars at Wicksteed Park, it shared its pod with top seed and reigning champion Kronic, newcomer Turbulence and the Dutch Spike. In its first battle it held its own against Kronic where both robots flipped each other around the arena until Iron-Awe 3 developed a problem with its pneumatic system and was flipped into the pit. Next it never made an impact on Turbulence as it got wedged on the floor making it an open target for Turbulence to flip it right over the fence, but it managed to win its next fight against Spike by flipping it over, the Dutch robot got its axe stuck in the floor and was immobilised. Unfortunatly, Iron-Awe 3 didn't get the points it needed to qualify through to the finals.

Annihilator[]

After losing in the heats of the UK Championships, Iron-Awe 3 came back again for the Annihilator side competition along with Dantomkia ,Kan-Opener, Tanto, Spike & Disconstructor. It only survived the first fight because Dantomkia had done the work in immobilising Disconstructor against the arena wall. Unfortunatly, Iron-Awe 3 suffered from a technical error and was forced to withdraw from the competition.

2006 Winter Tour[]

After the bad luck Iron-Awe 3 had at the UK Championships, it came back for the Winter Tour the same year. It took on 8465T in its first qualifier match at Doncaster where both robots flipped each other around the arena, but Iron-Awe 3 won on a judges decision.

Next at Birmingham, it didn't take very long for Iron-Awe 3 to get under Edge-Hog and throw it out the arena which gave it the points it needed to qualify through to the finals at Folkestone.

In the finals at Folkestone, Iron-Awe 3 had a bit of a tussle with Kan-Opener in the first round but eventually managed to get it out the arena.

Next it took on Turbulence in the Quarter-Finals who beat it back at the UK Championships, Turbulence started the stronger flipping it around the arena, but eventually, Iron-Awe 3 managed to get under it and throw the UK Champion out the arena.

In the Semi-Finals, Iron-Awe 3 fought the Tag Team Champion Merlin who again got thrown out of the arena.

Iron-Awe 3 met Behemoth in the final, where this time, Iron-Awe 3 was struggling as Behemoth used its fast speed to keep in close contact with Iron-Awe 3 almost every time and flipped it over a lot. Iron-Awe 3 fought back at one point in trying to hurle Behemoth out the arena, but after all the self-righting didn't manage as its gas system was running low. Eventually, Iron-Awe 3 was overturned in the corner and tried to self-right with the last flip, but it didn't go back on its wheels, was counted out and Behemoth took the title instead.

2007 UK Championships[]

Main Competition[]

Iron-Awe 3 entered the 2007 UK Championships repainted black, it shared its pod with TillyEwe 2 and the teams own Iron-Awe 5. It had problems with its flipper in both battles as it got flipped over by TillyEwe 2 in the first battle and couldn't self-right and was thrown out the arena by Iron-Awe 5 in the next battle. Again, Iron-Awe 3 had been elliminated in the heats.

Annihilator[]

Like the previous year, Iron-Awe 3 came back for the Annihilator side competititon along with Mighty Mouse, TillyEwe 2, Tanglefoot, Thor & Edge-Hog. It became very lucky in the first round as it and all the other robots except TillyEwe 2 had stopped moving, but Tanglefoot was first to be immobilised so went out first. But again, technical failure hit Iron-Awe 3 and it withdrew from the Annihilator once more. This was also the last year for Iron-Awe 3 being around with its original team.

IA4
Orrion

Iron-Awe 4 as Orrion

In 2005, Iron-Awe 2.1 was deemed pretty worn out and was rebuilt into Iron-Awe 4. Iron-Awe 4 was smaller than Iron-Awe 2.1 but still armed with a flipper and an axe. It was sold to Team Orr and renamed Orrion in 2009 to replace Team Orr's retired heavyweight, Golden Eye. It competed in two events in 2009- Robots Live! and the UK Championship of that year, but has not competed since.

Iron-Awe 5

Iron-Awe 5 was built in 2006 following the success of Iron-Awe 3. Iron-Awe 5 featured a modular construction to make it easy to repair, and became notable for using its powerful flipper to throw five robots out of the arena in a single battle. Iron-Awe 5 won the 2008 and 2010 UK Championships, becoming the third robot to reclaim the UK title after Chaos 2 and Terrorhurtz, as well as receiving a spot in The Combat Robot Hall of Fame in 2009.

2007 UK Championships[]

Iron-Awe 5 had been signed up for its first UK Championship in 2007 where it did very well for a newcomer from start to finish. In its pod, it had TillyEwe 2 and the team's own Iron-Awe 3. It won both of the fights by flipping its opponents out of the arena, meaning it earned enough points to go through to the finals. In round 1 of the finals, it met Big Nipper but Iron-Awe 5's motor failed, meaning it had to go into the loser's melee with Tiberius 4. It threw Tiberius 4 around the arena until eventually it was immobilised so Iron-Awe 5 was back in the competition. In the quarter-finals it met reigning champion Turbulence who lost its title after Iron-Awe 5 flipped it around the arena until it died. Iron-Awe 5 then met Big Nipper again in the semi-finals but again its motor failed and it ended up in the pit, meaning it had to fight for 3rd place in the play-off. Iron-Awe 5 fought Dantomkia in the play-off where Iron-Awe 5 held its own before flipping the 2006 Annihilator Champion out of the arena to claim 3rd place.

2007 Winter Tour[]

Iron-Awe 5 came back for the Winter Tour where it took part in 2 competition fights at Doncaster. The first was a 4-way melee with The Saint, Scorpion & Ripper. Scorpion ended up in the pit but it showed more aggression over Ripper and Saint which enabled it to win the judges' decision. In the next fight it took on Tiberius 4 where it just threw it into Gripper and left it stacked against the back end, giving Iron-Awe 5 all the points it needed to qualify for the finals at Nottingham. In round 1 of the finals, it fought Envy who got thrown around the arena before eventually getting thrown out of it. The semi-final battle with Beast was evenly balanced until Iron-Awe 5 hit Beast with a big flip, sending it over the fence and out. The grand-final with Kan-Opener was also very even with Kan-Opener managing to get its claw inside Iron-Awe 5 a few times and Iron-Awe 5 managing to flip Kan-Opener around the arena. It looked as though Kan-Opener would be winning until Iron-Awe 5 flipped the 2 times annihilator champion against the arena wall and threw it over, claiming the Winter Tour 2007 Championship title.

2008 UK Championships[]

Iron-Awe 5 came back for the 2008 UK Championships as the 3rd seed and had been given automatic qualification into the finals where in round 1, it met the 2nd seed Terrorhurtz. For the fight, Iron-Awe 5 had been fitted with a rubber-mounted slab of plastic to absorb the shocks of the axe blows hammering down on Iron-Awe. The fight started evenly with Terrorhurtz hammering Iron-Awe 5 and with Iron-Awe 5 flipping Terrorhurtz around the arena. Eventually, Iron-Awe 5 got Terrorhurtz out the arena and went through. Next in the quarter-finals, it met Hortron, the fight was over very quickly as Iron-Awe 5 managed to get behind Hortron and flip it out the arena. The semi-final battle was up against top seed Big Nipper who had beaten Iron-Awe 5 twice on its way to winning the title the pervious year, the fight had to be resumed after the pit collapsed when Iron-Awe 5 was on top of it even though the button hadn't been pressed. In the rematch, Iron-Awe 5 threw Big Nipper around the arena, at one point it got balanced on the edge of the wall where it bounced back down and continued fighting. Eventually, Big Nipper drove down the pit and Iron-Awe 5 went through to the grand-final where it met Dantomkia who it beat in the play-off the previous year. The fight went Dantomkia's way to start off with as it flipped Iron-Awe 5 over who managed to recover easily. Fortunately Dantomkia's safety link had popped out and Iron-Awe 5 took advantage of this by throwing Dantomkia out of the arena and also claimed the 2008 UK Championship trophy.

2008 Winter Tour[]

Iron-Awe 5 came back for the Winter Tour 2008 as the defending champion and crowd favourite and after winning the UK Championships. It beat Weird Alice 2 in its qualifier match at Nottingham which allowed it entry into the finals at Maidstone. In round 1 it defeated Ripper Evo by throwing it out the arena and also won the quarter-final fight against Tilly Evo after it had immobilised itself with one flip. Next it fought Terrorhurtz who it had beaten back at the UK Championships, this time though, Terrorhurtz managed to knock the shock-absorber off Iron-Awe 5's flipper and something stopped its own flipper from going fully down to the ground. The fight ended with Iron-Awe 5 in the pit and having lost its title in the 2008 Winter Tour.

2009 UK Championships[]

After winning the previous year, Iron-Awe 5 was the top seed for the year-long 2009 UK Championships. Its first qualifier match at Cardiff was quite one-sided against Cabrakan, it threw Cabrakan around the arena, into Major Damage and eventually, Cabrakan drove down the pit, meaning Iron-Awe 5 had won points. Next at the Robot rumble in Brentwood, it was in a 3-way melee with the team's own Iron-Awe 6 and Ripper Evo. Iron-Awe 5 won the fight after ganging up on Ripper Evo and being the more aggressive over Iron-Awe 6. Next at Guildford it met Terrorhurtz again, it lost on aggression but it did win its next fight at Portsmouth against Ripper Evo, Thor & S.M.I.D.S.Y. It had to retire from its next qualifier match against Terrorhurtz & Hydra at Maidstone as it had suffered from mechanical problems, but it had earned enough points anyway and was through to the finals at Wigan. In the first round, it had Big Nipper again, Ripper Evo again & Meggamouse, it did well getting flips on the other 3 robots but Iron-Awe 5 was ganged up on and shoved into the pit and eliminated.

2010 UK Championships[]

Iron-Awe 5 became one of the 27 robots signed up for the 2010 UK Championships and was also seeded 7th, it won its first qualifier match at Barnsley against old rival Dantomkia easily as it had to dump all its gas which was making it overweight. Iron-Awe 5 flipped it over were it couldn't self-right and was thrown out of the arena. It next fought Puck and Tiberius 4 and also beat them.

In the Final it was able to beat Meggamouse and then took on Mealstrom and won by flipping and blocking him onto its side. In the grand-final it met Ripper Evo yet again and the two of them flipped each other all over the arena before eventually Ripper ran out of gas so it couldn't self-right, emulating Chaos 2 and Terrorhurtz such as one of the few robots to win 2 UK Championships.

2011 UK Championships[]

Iron-Awe 5 was the Reigning Champion and No. 1 seed for 2011, and in it's Heat was drawn against Tough as Nails, Terminal Ferocity and the German robot Scott 2, who was unable to attend the event. Iron-Awe 5 began the title defence swiftly, by flipping Terminal Ferocity onto it's side, and then proceeding to flip T.A.N. around the arena, and finally over the side wall, then completing the fight by disposing of Terminal Ferocity the same way. In Round 2, Iron-Awe 5 fought against Thor again, Merlin & Scorpion again, and quickly threw Thor out of the arena, and then Merlin pitted Scorpion just as Scorpion was about to pit Iron-Awe 5, allowing Merlin and Iron Awe to go through, and then meet again in the Quarter Finals. Iron-Awe flipped Merlin constantly, and then Merlin ran out of gas and couldn't self-right. It is invertible though, and continued regardless until the end of the battle, with the Judge going in favour of Iron-Awe 5. In the Semi-Finals, Iron Awe 5 met Ripper Evo again, and despite putting up a good fight, it was knocked out on a judge's decision as Ripper never left it alone and flipped it over continually. In the Playoff, Iron-Awe met Thor once more, who conked out after just one flip, allowing Iron-Awe 5 to claim 3rd place in 2011.

IronAwe 6

Iron-Awe 6's normal appearance

After the success of Iron-Awe 5 in 2007/8, the team built Iron-Awe 6. It featured the same modular construction as before and had rolled edges like the ones on Iron-Awe 3 for extra strength. Iron Awe 6 was originally painted yellow like its predecessor, but was soon re-painted red like Axe-Awe, presumably to avoid confusion with its predecessor. In the five years since being built, Iron-Awe 6's flipper never ran out of CO2 in a battle. It managed to flip itself out of the arena during the 2011 UK Championship at the O2 Arena. In June 2013, Iron-Awe 6 was retired, and its internal components were used for the new Ripper. Iron-Awe 6 was repainted yellow and silver and brought out of retirement to compete in Series 10 of Robot Wars. It won the 2019 UK Championship, flipping Eruption out of the arena in the Final.

UK Robot Wars Series 10[]

Ep4-iron-aw

Iron-Awe 6 as seen at Robot Wars Series 10

Iron-Awe 6 competed in Heat 4, where it faced Team Terror Turtle's new machine, The Kegs, and reserve entry Tauron Mk 2, in its Group Battle, after Tauron Mk 2 took the place of Triforce.

Iron-Awe 6 started the battle by bumping into Tauron Mk 2, before it found itself stuck on the Flame Pit, which allowed one of The Kegs to rip away part of Iron-Awe 6's entanglement cannons. After getting in too close to Sir Killalot, Iron-Awe 6 moved away and then charged across the arena floor and into Tauron Mk 2 again. After following up this drive by forcing Tauron Mk 2 over the Arena Spikes, another of Iron-Awe 6's entanglement cannons was opened by Tauron Mk 2, spreading more debris on the arena floor. Noticeably, Iron-Awe 6 had not used its flipper during the opening period.

After finding itself in a scuffle with him earlier in the fight, Iron-Awe 6 was once again pressurised by Sir Killalot after The Kegs had pressed the Arena Tyre and activated Rogue House Robot mode. In the meantime, Tauron Mk 2 had finished off the hopes of The Kegs, which left Iron-Awe 6 and Tauron Mk 2 to fight after the former escaped from Sir Killalot. An initial Iron-Awe 6 charge was then met by grazing hits from Tauron Mk 2's bar, with the spinning weapon then connecting with a big blow to the rear of Iron-Awe 6. Both machines remained in close-quarters with each other, before a Tauron Mk 2 charge left it stranded up on Iron-Awe 6. Sir Killalot's intervention was necessary to separate the two, but after this, both machines ground to a halt. Iron-Awe 6 was able to prove its mobility for slightly longer though, so Tauron Mk 2 - which was stuck on some debris - was counted out, and cease was called.

Through to the Heat Semi-Finals, Iron-Awe 6 faced Series 9 Grand Finalists Concussion, with emphasis on Iron-Awe 6's weapon needing to work after a no-show from it in the Group Battle. Entanglement devices were also hung over the sides of the machine in preparation for the drum spinner.

Iron-Awe 6 immediately charged at Concussion as the spinning drum of the Dorset Roboteering Team attempted to get up to speed. Iron-Awe 6 was quickly forced onto the back foot after this though, as Concussion caught it broadside on, before clipping the right back corner of Iron-Awe 6, knocking it in towards Shunt. As Iron-Awe 6 narrowly escaped an axe blow from the House Robot, its front was caught by Concussion's weapon again, spinning Iron-Awe 6's front around and knocking the machine across the arena floor. The next collision between the two knocked Iron-Awe 6's front flip upwards, with Concussion's follow-through attack throwing Iron-Awe 6 over.

Unfortunately for the Grimm's, their worst fears came true, as the flipper failed to work for a second battle in a row. After further damage from Dead Metal, Iron-Awe 6 was counted out, and dropped into the Third Place Playoff, where it faced Androne 4000. Struts were added to the back end of Iron-Awe 6, in front of its wheels, to keep the robot's wedge grounded.

Iron-Awe 6 slid underneath Androne 4000 straight away, guiding it onto the Floor Flipper, before pushing it towards Matilda - where the House Robot's flywheel caused damage to Androne 4000. Despite this strong start, it was clear that Iron-Awe 6's flipper was, once again, not working.

Both machines jostled for position for a short period afterwards, before Iron-Awe 6 moved Androne 4000 over the Flame Pit and then into Matilda again with a long drive across the arena. Iron-Awe 6 then pushed Androne 4000 into the Arena Tyre, which descended the Pit. With Androne 4000 starting to suffer with its mobility, Iron-Awe 6 attempted to pit the newcomers with a drive. However, with Androne 4000 still moving around on the spot, Iron-Awe 6 struggled to get to grips with Androne 4000, and nearly overshot one of its own drives into the Pit.

After avoiding the crushing claw of Androne 4000, Iron-Awe 6 suddenly found itself in further danger, as Matilda connected with a big blow with her flywheel to the rear of Iron-Awe 6. Robert Grimm found himself in more danger from the House Robot shortly after, as Matilda's tusks sent Iron-Awe 6 hurtling through the air. Thankfully for Iron-Awe 6, it landed on its wheels, and was then able to finally finish off Androne 4000 with only three seconds remaining by sliding it down into the Pit. Iron-Awe 6 was victorious, and secured a place in the 10 Robot Rumble as a result.

In the 10 Robot Rumble, Iron-Awe 6 fought Apollo, Big Nipper (again), Concussion (again), Eruption (again), Expulsion, Sabretooth, Terrorhurtz (a robot it qualified along side in the Extreme 2 Challenge Belt), Thor (again) and Track-tion in a one last-man standing battle. It maintained its rear struts from the previous battle, and once again lacked a functioning flipper.

After briefly colliding with Thor, Iron-Awe 6 was the first robot to challenge Eruption, who was sitting in a CPZ to hold out. However, Iron-Awe 6 rode straight up the wedge of Eruption and was forced to retreat, as a single flip could have ended Iron-Awe 6's challenge. Iron-Awe 6 cruised around the arena while both Expulsion and Track-tion were resigned to the pit. Iron-Awe 6 then pressed the Arena Tyre, unleashing the Fog of War. Iron-Awe 6 held off, avoiding danger until it was caught by Apollo, which threw it high into the air, although Iron-Awe 6 landed on its wheels. It then crashed into Thor, beside the pit, but could not drive under its opponent's wedge to achieve a pitting. It briefly joined in the pincer attack on Eruption, alongside Terrorhurtz, Concussion and Big Nipper, but did not make an impact. After this, Iron-Awe 6 was able to make a second usage of the Dial of Doom, this time triggering Rogue House Robot. It was briefly pressed against the wall by Sir Killalot, but escaped to drive fully under Thor, pushing it across the arena.

Curiously, after pressing the Arena Tyre again, Iron-Awe 6 was awarded a third use of the Dial of Doom, which once again released the Fog of War. Here, Iron-Awe 6 made a critical mistake, and drove over the floor flipper, which tossed it over. Iron-Awe 6's continuing problem of a failing flipper struck once again, and Iron-Awe 6 landed inverted, unable to self-right. Terrorhurtz landed two axe blows on the beaten Iron-Awe 6, and edged it towards the pit, where Concussion ultimately pushed it in. Iron-Awe 6 was therefore the third robot to fall in the 10 Robot Rumble ultimately won by Eruption.

Robots Live! - K2 Crawley 2023[]

Iron-Awe 6's first match was against the experienced machines of Meggamouse and Toxic 2. The fight started with all bots jostling for position until Iron-Awe 6 managed to land a flip on Toxic 2. Toxic 2 self righted and went after Iron-Awe 6, leaving it open to an attack from Meggamouse who flipped it over, forcing another self right. In an effort to get away, Iron-Awe 6 found itself under attack from the house robot, Goliath. Iron-Awe 6 escaped and teed up Toxic 2 for a flip from Meggamouse. Iron-Awe 6 was now stuck under the arena hammer where it was prevented from self righting and left open to attack from Toxic 2 who proceeded to threw Iron-Awe 6 into the corner before being thrown by Meggamouse. Iron-Awe 6 self righted, but Toxic 2 and Meggamouse were determined to make sure that Iron-Awe 6 died. Eventually, Iron-Awe 6 was flipped onto its back while its flipper was stuck open, leaving the experienced machine stranded. Toxic 2 and Meggamouse continued to slug it out, accidentally knocking down Iron-Awe 6, but it was too late for a comeback as the fight went to the judges who ruled in favor of Toxic 2 and Meggamouse progressing as Iron-0Awe 6 was eliminated.

Iron-Awe 6 wasn't done yet though, as it entered the final melee of Show 2. After the dust settled, Tánshè was declared the winner.

IronAwe 7

Iron-Awe 7 made its debut in July 2013 at the Robot Wars Live! Newport UK Championship. Iron-Awe 7 has a wide flipper, much like the new version of Ripper. Like all the other models of Iron-Awe, Iron-Awe 7 has a toothy grin and eyes decoration. It and Iron-Awe 5 usually compete at the same events.

Iron-Awe 7 as Diot-Awe

After several competitions, this version of Iron-Awe was sold to Team Nemesis where it was rechristened as the new Diotoir.

Iron Awe 8

Robots Live! - K2 Crawley 2023[]

Iron-Awe 8's first match was up against the experienced machines of Apocalypse and Yoton. The fight started with everyone looking for an optimal angle of attack before Yoton took advantage and threw Iron-Awe 8 into the wall. Iron-Awe 8 self righted and took out its anger on Apocalypse, throwing it completely over, causing it to land on its wheels. Iron-Awe 8 and Apocalypse then executed a pincer attack on Yoton that threw it onto its back. Yoton self righted and threw Iron-Awe 8 over as it was pressing the attack on Apocalypse. Iron-Awe 8 then went after Yoton who juked it out and threw Iron-Awe 8 over. Apocalypse took advantage of this opportunity and landed an axe blow on Iron-Awe 8 before it self righted. Iron-Awe 8 then threw Apocalypse over several times, forcing it to self right repeatedly. Iron-Awe 8 then redirected its attention to Yoton, flipping it over several times before throwing it onto the wall in such a way that Yoton's flipper hooked the robot onto the top of the wall, rendering Yoton effectively dead. With Yoton out of the way, Iron-Awe 8 was free to bully Apocalypse around the arena for the rest of the match. The fight went to a judges decision where Iron-Awe 8 was declared the winner with Apocalypse also qualifying.

Iron-Awe 8 was now in the quarter finals where it faced ThunderChild. The fight started with both bots probing to see who had the low ground before Iron-Awe 8 landed a flip on ThunderChild that dislodged the UK flag mounted on its rear. ThunderChild paid Iron-Awe 8 back by flipping it over and forcing several self rights. Iron-Awe 8 managed to recover and responded with its own barrqage of flips before throwing ThunderChild out of the arena. Iron-Awe 8 was now in the semifinals where it would face the robot that eliminated its brother, Toxic 2.

The fight started with both bots charging at each other and Toxic 2 flipping over Iron-Awe 8. Iron-Awe 8 self righted and after a short period of rest, was thrown into the wall by Toxic 2. Iron-Awe 8 answered back by flipping Toxic 2, forcing it on the defensive. Toxic 2 recovered from the scare and landed another big flip on Iron-Awe 8 before throwing it into the wall several times. Iron-Awe 8 self righted and retaliated with its own series of flips that forced a self right from Toxic 2 who responded by flipping Iron-Awe 8 over and also itself from recoil. Iron-Awe 8 self righted first and threw Toxic 2 over again. Unfortunately, Toxic 2's flipper was down at this point, meaning that it could not self right. Toxic 2 was counted out and Iron-Awe 8 advanced to the semifinals where it faced the oldest combat robot still fighting today, Behemoth.

The fight started with Iron-Awe 8 effortlessly getting under Behemoth and throwing it into the wall. Behemoth wasted several flips self righting, but soon responded by flipping over Iron-Awe 8 and forcing a self right. Iron-Awe 8 recovered and started throwing Behemoth around the arena as if it were a mere leaf in the wind. Behemoth tried to self right, but Iron-Awe 8 merely threw it over again before throwing Behemoth out of the arena to secure the tournament victory.
