Lower

Lower was an antweight robot that competed in the Antweight Championship in Extreme Series 2 of Robot Wars. It was equipped with a crushing arm, had two large exposed wheels and was able to self-right. Lower reached the final of the competition, but then lost to the experienced Anty B.

Lower also contested four Antweight World Series, winning the 11th Series.

Robot History

AWS 8

In the first round, Lower faced Odyssey and Mesmer 2 where it qualified alongside Odyssey.

In the second round, Lower faced Combat Ant and Squashy. At first both Lower and Squashy got behind Combat Ant to take it out in a team up. However, the bludgeoner span up to speed and smashed both machines away, with Squashy being toppled over on its back. Squashy self righted, as Combat Ant waited for another attack before slamming into Squashy and buckling the armour completely. Despite the onslaught, Squashy kept self righting and attacking with Lower coming in from behind and attempting to crush Squashy. Squashy turned and attempted to axe Lower who clamped down and pushed, it let go and shunted Squashy off the arena.

In the third round, Lower faced Odyssey and Combat Ant again, this time Lower lost.

AWS 9

In the first round, Lower faced Blizzard and Vacant. Immediately, Lower charged in and caught Vacant, crushing it. However, Blizzard spun up to speed and approached Lower before battering one of the wheels, tearing it off. Lower still had Vacant in its grips but another attack from Blizzard sent both robots flying away, with another wheel from Lower being torn off. The impact managed to immobilise Blizzard which allowed Vacant to attack it whilst Refbot counted Lower out.

However, due to technical problems, the team's other antweight Resurrector who was meant to fight Abel and Achilles had to withdraw, meaning Lower was brought back in to replace it.

As battle began Lower immediately charged into Achilles, grabbing hold of the barrel like shape. Abel eventually, came along and freed Achilles from the grasp of Lower, but not for long as Lower immediately attacked Achilles and, with Abel also helping, pushed Achilles off the arena.

In the second round, Lower faced Anti and Vole where it qualified alongside Vole.

In the third round, Lower faced Anty B. Lower charged into Anty B getting a grip, but Anty B slipped away and got around the back of Lower and attempted to lift it over. Lower turned and went head to head with Anty B grabbing it from the scoop. it is unknown what happened afterwards.

In the fourth round, Lower faced Rebel where it won.

In the fifth round, Lower faced Anteater and Vole. Lower targeted Anteater at first with both crushers crushing one another. Vole then joined in on the assault of Anteater by pushing it close to the edge of the arena. Despite Anteater being pushed off the arena, it managed to hang onto Vole and as such Vole backed away as did Anteater who still hung onto Vole as it darted across the arena. Lower, meanwhile, seemed to have trouble moving from the earlier damage and was immobile as Anteater and Vole continued fighting.

Robot Wars: Extreme 2

In the heats, Lower was up against Buzzant, The Serpent, Minimalistic, Pants and Millitant. Lower started by avoiding Pants and attacking Buzzant, however Buzzant managed to get away, so Lower than turned its attention to The Serpent. Lower was able to shove The Serpent into a maniacal Pants, before using its wedge shape to flip Minimalistic over onto its back. Lower than went back into the CPZ to claw Pants who was still hacking away it The Serpent before Cease was called. It went to a judges' decision who put Lower through along with Pants.

In the final, Lower was the only newcomer as it was up against Pants, Anty B and the reigning champions Combat Ant. Lower began by going for Pants, shoving it into the side of the arena. It then grabbed the wheel of Combat Ant and attacked it, and it was joined by Pants. Anty B attacked Combat Ant, and the defending champions stopped, immobilised. Anty B then lifted Lower, before attacking Pants. It then flipped Lower over, but it could self-right. It repeated this six times, slowly moving Lower across the arena. Lower lost the drive in one wheel due to the attacks and was pushed into the CPZ. Anty B now attacked Pants, and it became immobilised. Anty B returned its attentions to Lower, quickly immobilising it in the CPZ to become the new antweight champion.

AWS 11

In the first round, Lower faced Terminator. Terminator got the quicker start, slamming into Lower and pushing it back against the side wall. Lower pushed back but was flipped by Terminator, Lower self righted but was chased by Terminator across the arena. Lower, eventually turned around and fought back against Terminator, pushing it against the edge of the arena and eventually out after a tumultuous battle.

In the second round, Lower faced Headache. Both robots charged into each other, missing each other as they turned for another attack. Headache slammed into Lower and hammered it down as Lower sped away, turning to get a crush in but it was uplifted before backing up. Lower then charged in and scooped Headache up and managed to topple Headache over on it side, where it was unable to self right.

In the third round, Lower faced Predator where it won.

In the final, Lower faced War Ant. War Ant was the most aggressive at the start, slamming into Lower, toppling it and pushing it near the arena edge. However, Lower got away and came in for an attack but was wedge by War Ant again who came close to pushing Lower off. Lower survived again and managed to wrap around and get behind War Ant, crushing down and pushing War Ant off the arena.

In the Grand Final, Lower faced Resurrector. The two robots slammed into the centre of the arena with Resurrector pushing Lower against the side wall. However, Lower pushed back and used its claw to clamp down. Resurrector backed away but was attacked from behind by Lower who grabbed hold and pushed Resurrector off the arena.

AWS 12

Lower competed in Group A and in the first round faced Cannon Fodder and Allikat. Not is known about the battle other than Cannon Fodder was shoved off.

In the second round, Lower faced Chroma and Anto where it qualified alongside Anto.

In the third round, Lower faced Terminator. As the two robots slammed into each other in the middle, Lower was able to grab onto Terminator, however, the plucky rambot got the better traction and started pushing back against Lower, pushing backwards and eventually out of the arena.

AWS 13

In the first round, Lower faced Killsaw and Electra. Lower made an immediate charge towards Killsaw, hoping to stop the spinner, but Killsaw survived the ramming attack and turned as Electra came in from behind and tried to flip Lower. Lower continued to pursue Killsaw as Electra rammed into Lower, turning it and pushing it into the flywheel of Killsaw who tore one of Lower's wheels off, sending it in the air and over the robot. Electra lifted Lower and pushed it further into the flywheel of Killsaw however, Lower was unable to do anything and was completely immobile.
