Purple Predator was a large purple wedge shaped robot covered in purple fur that competed in Series 3 of Robot Wars. Based on an Invalid Tricycle, it was armed with a large front hinged flipper and a rear mounted saw. However, in its only battle, neither weapon worked as the circular saw came off the moment Purple Predator moved, and it was unable to use the flipper due to it being jammed. However, it still had the power to pull a Volvo estate.
The team returned in Series 5 and 6 and entered with Granny's Revenge, with no more success. The team also entered Purple Predator in a six-way qualifier for Series 5 with robots such as Razer, Rattus Rattus, Roobarb and Shunt, and their other machine Granny's Revenge, but Purple Predator failed to qualify.
Robot History
In the first round of the Third Wars, Purple Predator was placed up against fellow newcomers Toe Cutter. In the battle, Purple Predator drove in first but Toe Cutter used its blade twice, ripping off some fur on the front and side, before pushing Purple Predator into Dead Metal which cut into its armour. Toe Cutter was nearly flipped by the arena floor spikes, but escaped. The match went to a Judges' decision, the Judges voted for Toe Cutter, so Purple Predator was eliminated from the competition.
